DIY | Lace Bow-Tie Collar

Do you have an old sweater laying around that you don't really wear often? Here's a way to spice it up a bit!
Take measurements of the sweater you want to use and then...
1-3. Cut out the fabric into the collar shapes and the bow tie based on the measurements of the sweater.
4. Make sure and set it up on your sweater before sewing on to make sure you got your measurements right.
5. Sew on the collar.

Lastly, sew on your bow tie with the lace covering the two sides.
Renovating old clothes is such a great idea if you don't have the money or patience to go shopping for new clothes a lot.
Have a creative day!

Bamboo Coat Rack

So of course I wanted to play with my new drill again. This project is a little more ambitious, but easy enough for anyone to do with the right tools. All you need is 3 bamboo poles, some leather strip, a few hooks of your choosing, a drill and screws.

The two hooks I chose were a ceramic white antler hook and a pretty turquoise medallion one.
Drill holes in each pole, then match them up and screw all three together in a Tee-pee formation. Also, decide on where you want your hooks and go ahead and drill holes and insert screws for your hooks before assembling the poles.
Wrap with your leather strip for extra support and to help cover the screws.

Then hang your hooks on the screws you placed before assembly. You can use wood glue to help secure your hooks, if you need.
And there we go! Easy bamboo coat and hat rack!
I have a feeling I'm going make a lot of fun things with my new drill.

Color Obsessions | Mustard

So, I've noticed I get pretty head-over-heels with a different color every month. This month's color is mustard. I can't get enough! So here are some of my favorite things I've found in mustard this month.

Can't wait to see what color I'm in love with next month!

Hand-made Headdress

I finally finished my headdress!!
Wow, what an intense project!
Here's some of the supplies I started with. I cut the leather sheets into a pattern for a cap. I won't go into a ton of detail about the process. I was amazed how long it took just to get everything ready, before any assembly.
You have to sort the feathers by the direction that they bend, then you have to cut them down to the same length, and shape the ends.
Each feather had to be individually wrapped in leather, leaving a small loop at the end so they could be sewn onto the cap.

I used regular beads you can find at any craft store and then actual bone beads I bought at a reservation.
Here's after most of the assembly, after that was a lot of detail work.

 And then the finished product.

I hope to make another headdress eventually (a floor length one) and after this, I know a lot more about what I'm doing, so hopefully the next one will be better. This one is very far from perfect, but for my first attempt, I think it turned out alright.
I'll have another post later on of a photo shoot I plan to work on with another photographer.
